bada i falkträsket

At the Falkträskets bathing area there is a jetty that is accessible for wheelchairs and people with impaired vision.

Falkträsket is a lake located a few kilometers southwest of the central city of Skellefteå. The bathing area is very popular during the hot summer days when the whole area can be full of bathing people.

The jetty is a stable floating jetty with a sturdy railing to hold onto on the left side.

There is:

  • One accessible water toilet and four water toilets adjacent to the parking lot. The toilets are kept open during the bathing season.
  • A barbecue ring in the area that is raised so that people in wheelchairs can sit around the barbecue ring.
  • Kiosk service during the summer vacation.


Bada i byske

The five-star Byske Havsbad offers many opportunities for swimming and summer activities. At the outdoor pool in the sea, there is a long floating dock that is so stable that it is possible to drive a wheelchair on it.

The bridge is 150 meters long and very stable. For people with impaired vision, there is a rope along the right-hand edge of the jetty, making it easy to find your way around.

Here you will find:

  • One disabled water toilet and two water toilets near the jetty. To get to the toilets you need to cross an area of grass and packed earth.
  • Bathing wheelchair - If you use a wheelchair and want to get into the water, you can borrow a bathing wheelchair free of charge. It can be rolled in the sand but requires someone to push it. The bathing wheelchair can be borrowed from the kiosk.
  • Byske Havsbad has a restaurant, café and kiosk that are open during the summer season.

Fiskebygga i Bursiljum

On the Bureå River in Bursiljum there is a fishing pier adapted for wheelchairs.

There is a slightly sloping wooden walkway down to the jetty. The jetty has railings on all sides and can accommodate several wheelchairs at the same time. It is possible to open the railing on several sides to make it easier to fish from a wheelchair.

It is possible to orient yourself with a walking stick down to the jetty.

The jetty is a bit above the river so it is easy to cast out with a rod from the jetty. In Bureå river there are trout, pike and perch.
On the jetty there are benches with a table.

There are:

  • An outdoor toilet adapted for wheelchairs.
  • A shelter with a good view of the river. You can take your wheelchair into the shelter. Outside the shelter there is a barbecue ring and you can park your car in the area.

Fiskebrygga vid Mobacken

Central Skellefteå offers good fishing both from land and by boat. At Mobacken on the north side of Skellefteälven there is a fishing pier that is adapted for wheelchairs.

The fishing pier at Mobacken offers the opportunity to fish in a place where salmon and trout pass in abundant quantities at times. There are also grayling, pike and perch in the area.

The jetty has railings on three sides and can accommodate several wheelchairs at the same time. One section of the railing is lower in height to facilitate fishing from a wheelchair. The jetty stands on stilts with the front edge slightly above the river so that it is easy to cast out with a rod.

The fishing pier is located along the popular promenade along the Skellefteälven river.

Here there is:

  • There is a shelter next to the fishing pier and the site can be reached by car.

Good to know:

  • There is no toilet in the area.

Fiska i Östanbäck

Now everyone can fish or grill sausages where Storbäcken flows into the sea at Östanbäck. Make a visit to the large accessible platform with fishing pier.

The large platform is designed in the shape of a big T and offers plenty of space. The left side of the dock goes all the way down to the water, where the railing is lower to facilitate fishing from a wheelchair.

Here you can mainly catch perch, pike and, with a bit of luck, maybe a trout will take your bait.

Here you will find:

  • On the right side of the dock, there is a grill ring in the center of the wooden deck and around the grill ring there is plenty of room for a wheelchair. There is seating all around the railing.
  • A toilet that is wheelchair accessible.

Fiska på Vitberget

The Vitberg area is a popular outdoor area only 2 km north of Skellefteå city center. There is much to do here, including easily accessible fishing in Östra Vitbergstjärnen.

The large fishing pier at Östra Vitbergstjärnen is adjacent to the disabled parking lot at Boda Borg. From the parking lot, there is a 70-meter-long, paved road to the fishing pier and shelter.

The road is straight and easy to roll on and the shelter is adapted to accommodate several wheelchairs. You can also use a walking stick to orient yourself along the road from the parking lot.

Here you will find:

  • A shelter located about 10 meters from the pond with a nice view in a pleasant south-facing position. It is possible to roll all the way to the water. Firewood is usually available at the shelter, which is free to use.
  • An outdoor toilet near the shelter is adapted for wheelchairs.
  • In the vicinity of Östra Vitbergstjärn there are outdoor gyms and exercise trails that are well visited by exercisers all year round.

fiske kalvträsk

In the southwest corner of Skellefteå municipality lies beautiful Kalvträsk. There are good opportunities to experience nature and outdoor life, including fishing from the fishing fleet in Kalvträsket. Here are mainly pike and perch.

A trip with the fishing raft starts at the beach in Kalvträsket.

The accessible raft can accommodate about 20 people. To get on board, a rubber mat is rolled out over the sandy beach to the folding ramp up to the raft. There are sturdy railings all around the raft.

In the center of the raft, a hatch can be opened where you can fish or pimple from your wheelchair.

Here you will find:

  • An accessible raft that can accommodate about 20 people.

Good to know:

  • There is access to a disabled toilet in the old school located up in the village.
  • During the summer, the local association organizes a raft trip every Friday evening at 18.00, contact the association to secure your place. The weather determines whether the raft starts.

Fiske Danielsten

At Danielsten, the sea bath in Bureå, you can do more than swim. There is a platform for bird watching that is adapted for wheelchairs.

The view from the platform is towards the bay in Burefjärden. Visitors have the opportunity to see many different species of birds, such as ospreys and house sparrows. But it also happens that the place is visited by more unusual birds for us here in northern Sweden.

So pack your backpack with something good to eat and have your binoculars ready!

Fågelskådning i Ostvik

At Ostvik's beach meadows there is a nice excursion destination for those who want to go bird watching. Here you will find a platform for bird watching adapted for wheelchairs.

The bird platform is large and can accommodate many people at the same time. The view from the platform is of the extensive coastal meadows that were cleared in a major project a few years ago. The beach meadows also provide grazing land for livestock from nearby farms.

Visitors to the site may see common bird species such as cranes and lapwings, but rarer species also stop by for a visit.

Båt till Buastholmen

In beautiful Kågefjärden there is the popular excursion destination Lillhällan located on the island Bastuholmen. You can get here by a 10-minute boat ride from Kåge boat harbor. During construction, a lot of work has been done to facilitate accessibility.

Across the bay from Kåge boat harbor is the island of Bastuholmen. You can get here by boat through a short trip from Kåge boat harbor. From the jetty there is a wheelchair accessible ramp that leads up to a wooden deck with a coffee table. The ramp then continues up to the sauna building, which is currently being adapted for accessibility.

On the island of Bastuholmen there is also Storhällan, which is located about a hundred meters along the walking path from the harbor at Bastuholmen. Storhällan has smooth and steep cliffs down to the water. Bathing is possible for those on foot.

Visiting Lillhällan at sunset is recommended.

  • Both Kåge boat harbor and the jetty at Bastuholmen lack lifting aids for boarding a boat.
  • Bastuholmen is a hilly place which means that some help may be needed to roll up the ramps to the sauna. Outside the sauna there is a large terrace with a lovely south-facing view of the bay. The sauna can accommodate six people. The wheelchair is left outside the sauna.

Fiska i åbyälv

Rest area at Åby älv.

The site is beautifully located by the river a few km upstream from the E4 highway.
The site is located on the north side of the river.
There is a barbecue area with a view of the river.

In Åbyälven there are salmon, trout and grayling.

Utflykt till bjuröklubb

Bjuröklubb with its lighthouse is one of Västerbotten's most popular destinations, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every year. This place has a long history as an important point for shipping, which can be experienced in various ways in Café Fyren or on the way up to the lighthouse.

The Bjuröklubbs lighthouse stands at the far end of this characteristic strip of land, also known as the "Club", hence the name Bjuröklubb.

Via a 255 meter long accessible wooden ramp you can get from Café Fyren and all the way up to the top, 47 meters above sea level, to the lighthouse and the magnificent view. This is a very special place as the horizon is not broken by any islands, so on clear days you can experience a mile-wide view of land and sea.

There are:

  • During the summer season, Café Fyren is open for the sale of coffee and food. It is possible to drive a car right up to Café Fyren,

Good to know:

  • The wooden ramp can also be used by the visually impaired. The sturdy railings on both sides of the ramp provide support and help with orientation.

Utflykt sidtjärn

Popular Sidtjärn is located in central Boliden and offers great opportunities for outdoor activities. All around Sidtjärn there is a paved walkway and adjacent to this there are two shelters.

To take a walk around Sidtjärn is a distance of about one kilometer. It is flat ground except for one hill where help may be needed if you use a wheelchair.

Here you will find:

  • Two shelters with barbecue rings placed on each short side of Sidtjärn. It is also possible to prepare lunch at the fireplaces.
  • Boules court
  • Tennis court
  • Beach volleyball court

Good to know:

  • There are no toilets in the area.
  • The visually impaired can find their way around using the edge between the walkway and the lawn.

Vindskydd Vitberget

On the way up to the top of Vitberget there is a pleasant and easily accessible place for excursions. Here you will find a nice shelter with a barbecue ring that is adapted for wheelchair users.

The site is located at the beginning of the car park for Vitbergsstugan. The area between the parking lot and the shelter is hardened to make it easier to get around, but it requires some arm strength or helpers to get a wheelchair from the parking lot to the shelter because the last hill is a bit steep. There are some views of Skellefteå from the shelter.

There is:

  • A shelter with a barbecue that is adapted for wheelchair users.

Good to know:

  • Some of the seats in the shelter can be folded up and the distance to the fireplace is adapted for wheelchair users.
  • The nearest toilet is located at the start of the Vitberget light trail 500 m north of the shelter.

Vindskydd i Åbyn

In the middle of Åbyn, by the beautiful Åbyälven river is this nice green area that offers both the opportunity for excursion or camping with a caravan. The shelter is located at a small height and is adapted for wheelchairs.

From the shelter there is a good view of the Åby river, upstream. The shelter is large and can accommodate 15 people under cover.

Outside the shelter there is a barbecue ring with plenty of space on the sides. On the large grass area before the shelter, there is room to park a caravan for a fee.

Gårören

Outside Skelleftehamn is the island of Gåsören, which is a fantastic destination for those who want to experience both the cultural and marine environment.

The island has a lighthouse, pilot house, sheds and a sauna.
The island is largely accessible through ramps between the harbor, houses and barbecue areas. The pilot house can be rented for overnight stays but is currently not accessible for wheelchairs.

Bodaträsk

A family-friendly bathing area that is beautifully situated by Lake Bodaträsk.
The bathing area is located about 10 km southwest of Skellefteå.

The bathing area is small, has a sandy beach and is quite shallow.
There is a cement jetty with a floating jetty at the far end.
The jetty lacks railings but is good for fishing.

Here there is:

  • An accessible outdoor toilet.
  • A barbecue ring in the area that is raised so that people in wheelchairs can sit around the barbecue ring.
  • Tables and benches for those who want to have coffee/food.
  • Changing rooms
