Windbreaks and barbeque rings

A warming cup of coffee, grilled sausage or just a moment to enjoy the outdoors. Around Skellefteå municipality there are nice shelters and barbecue areas you can visit. Some of these are supplied with firewood by the municipality and associations, which is available for those who want to make a fire at the site. Ifyou still want to be on the safe side when you have planned an excursion and want to make a fire, it may be a good idea to bring your own wood, as we cannot guarantee that the wood will not be exhausted when you arrive at the site .

The map shows all shelters and rest areas throughout Skellefteå municipality, the symbols marked in green on the map are the places where firewood isdelivered. The wood is delivered about 1-2 times a week and below is a brief description of some ofthe areas where wood is delivered .

Sidtjärn, located in the middle of Boliden, gives you the opportunity to walk around but also to stop and enjoy a moment at the shelter. At each end of Sidtjärn there are two shelters and another one just a stone's throw away. In addition to walking from Boliden center, you can, for example, park at Bolidengården and then take a short walk to one of the shelters.

Just south of Burträsk along the road to Bygdsiljum, on the western slope of Kvarnberg, a bit up the hill - you will find Mullebo. A shelter that comes in handy with its nice location. The best place to park is at the old ski hut 400 meters from the Bygdsiljum road.

In Byske you will find three shelters along the beach at the sea baths. Here we promise a beautiful sea view in both summer and winter. Byske also invites you to walk along the river but also along the beach. You can park at Byske camping's parking lot and then take a short walk down to the sea and the windbreaks.

At the top of Pulkbacken at Erikslid you will find a wind shelter that is well visited and a popular destination. What could be better than combining sledging with a sausage barbecue? Further down in the nature area there is another shelter, but no firewood is delivered there. You can easily get here on foot as the area is quite central.

Falkträsket, or Falket/Falkan as it is popularly known, is a lake along a mountain south of Sunnanå. Here, in connection with the bathing area, there is a shelter located next to the lake. It is a popular place in summer and winter and you can park here in the parking lots belonging to the bathing area.

In the community of Jörn there are several shelters to visit. Not too far from the soccer field and the bathhouse there is a shelter where firewood is delivered. If you do not get there all the way on foot, you can park next to the bathhouse and then walk or ski there, but please do not use the ski tracks in winter. Then go towards Syrengatan and the power line and there is a snowmobile track towards the wind shelter past the power line towards Mullebo as it is called.

About 900 meters south of Lövånger is Kyrksjön. A popular outdoor area with many electric light trails, shelters and outdoor toilets. The best place to park is on the east side of the lake at the large picnic hut next to Dahlepilhs väg.

Along the north-eastern side of the river there are several shelters to stop at and make a fire, both when you come along Medlefors and also closest to the Mobacken dam. You can get here by car, walking or cycling. Parking is available both up at Mobacken Church for those who want to walk a bit to the shelters or down at the riverside.

The Morö backe district offers a wind shelter just north of Skellefteå Ridhus. At Ridhusbacken you can enjoy nice nature in a city environment. About 900 meters northeast you will find a shelter that belongs to Kraftleden, a hiking trail between Skelleftehamn and Skellefteå.

On the way up to Solbacken there are two shelters. One at the bottom of the hill close to the playground and Norrbacka preschool and one at the top of the hill that you can see from the E4 highway. Here you can combine your stay with sledding, playing in the playground, cross-country skiing on Moröhöjden's ski trail, running or a walk in Alhem's beautiful nature area. With just a short walk, from the wind shelter at the top of the hill, through the forest, you come to Alhem's cemetery where you can also park your car if you do not want to park in the parking lot adjacent to the E4.

There is a shelter adjacent to the illuminated dog walk and the ski trail/light trail. Here you can park directly adjacent to the shelter and are also close to both walking paths, ski trails and electric light trails depending on the season. For those who want to barbecue and combine skating, boules, football or tennis, there are two barbecue areas at Sjungande dalens IP where you can also park directly on site.

Close to the south side of Lejonströmsbron there are two shelters, one if you walk along the promenade to the east and one to the west. For those who do not want to walk here, you can park next to the bridge. But a tip is to take a walk along the river in connection with your visit, because the Lejonström Bridge is a historic site and there is much more to see.

Vitberget, our nature area close to the city, offers lots of different activities at all times of the year. If you want to visit a shelter or barbecue area on your visit, there are many possibilities for you. There are several shelters adjacent to the slopes and along the hiking and skiing trails. At the pond on the mountain there is also an accessible shelter with dry toilets and an adapted jetty during the summer months. You can park next to the ski slope, at the ski trails, at the pistol shooting range, but best of all, you can walk here from the city center in just a few minutes.
